Publisher's Synopsis
The volume–represents the proceedings of the "8th International Workshop on Polymer Reaction Engineering" held at the University of Hamburg, Germany, on October, 3–6, 2004. This workshop series is well established for more than two decades as an international forum for chemists and chemical engineers from industry as well as from academia interested in any aspect of polymer reaction engineering. It takes place at three years intervals and puts emphasis on new concepts and promising developments in the field of polymer reaction engineering. Particularly, this workshop offers a unique chance to discuss and learn about thermodynamics and kinetics, mixing and scale–up, dynamics and safety, on–line measurement and control, modeling and simulation of polymerization reactions and reactors.
Creativity and exchange of experience between scientists from industry and universities is strongly promoted by the joint discussion of experimental and theoretical research of polymer reaction engineering and optimization of modern polymerization processes and new polymeric materials.
The present proceedings volume comprises more than seventy papers which were presented in the form of plenary lectures, short lectures of posters by experts from all parts of the world. The contributions cover a broad spectrum of polymer reaction engineering aspects.
