In the Great Mineas of the Family of 1090, much is told about healings from all sorts of diseases performed by the holy lad Tryphon, and about the expulsion of demons from people who turned to him. We will first tell about one of his many miracles testifying to the great grace of God that rested on him, and then we will tell about his suffering for the faith of Christ. In the two hundred and thirty-eighth year, the emperor Gordian 1091 ascended the Roman throne, which, although he was an idolater, he did not persecute Christians. This king had an adult daughter, named Gordiana, a girl who was distinguished by her intelligence and beauty, so that many great and glorious princes wished to marry her sons. But this damsel, and with her along with her whole family, suffered a great misfortune: according to God's permission, the devil entered her, who cruelly tormented her, plunging her into fire and water; the doctors brought to the sick girl, known for their wisdom, could not help her. But now, the unclean spirit who dwelt in the damsel himself, at the command of God, proclaimed: "No one can drive me out of here except the lad Tryphon."
