Publisher's Synopsis
The late Ian MacKay started producing his checklists in the early years of his work as a lecturer in human resource management. They reflected his view that the role of the lecturer is not so much to teach as to help others to learn and, above all, to think for themselves. - - From 1985 onwards, Ian MacKay?s checklists were a regular - and outstandingly popular - feature of the Institute of Training and Development?s journal. A collection in book form, 35 Checklists for Human Resource Development, was published in 1989 and has found an appreciative, and steadily growing, readership. This companion volume covers a wide variety of human resource issues, from apparently mundane tasks like designing application forms to issues of the utmost sensitivity like appraisal, grievance-handling and redundancy policy. - - As in the previous volume, the checklists are not designed to provide easy answers. What they will do is help you to think in a structured way about your attitudes and behaviour. Your responses can then become a basis for increasing your effectiveness. Personnel specialists, and others involved in human resource management, will find working through the checklists a challenging and rewarding exercise.
