Publisher's Synopsis
The International Design Exchange (INDEX) Studio is an urban design course intended to make global connections. Conceived as a research-focused course in the graduate curriculum at Kent State University's College of Architecture and Environmental Design, the studio explores the challenges cities have in common. The complex urban contexts require students to create and respond to questions that push the boundaries of their skills and knowledge. The studio's outcomes reveal potential urban futures and build understanding across different cultures. The 2017 INDEX Studio focused on two sites, one in Cleveland, Ohio and a second in Havana, Cuba.
