In Fiscal Year 2002, the Migratory Bird Conservation Commission approved the acquisition boundary of one new refuge, the Red River National Wildlife Refuge in Caddo, Bossier, Desoto, Red River and Natchitoches Parishes, Louisiana. The Commission also approved the acquisition boundary of two national wildlife refuges that were previously established: the Blackwater National Wildlife Refuge in Dorchester County, Maryland; and the Trinity River National Wildlife Refuge in Liberty County, Texas.
