Publisher's Synopsis

During his life, Henri Langlois, founder of the Cinematique, collected over 30,000 films, 1,000,000 photographs and an array of costumes, posters, set designs, cameras, books and scripts. He introduced the work of Akira Kurosawsa and Satyajit Ray to the West and was mentor to the French New Wave directors Godard, Truffaut, Chabrol and Rhomer. In 1974 Langlois was honoured with an Academy Award. This biography of Langlois was compiled after eight years of research and interviews by Glenn Myrent, a friend of Langlois' during the last year of his life. A 60 page cartoon flipbook accompanies the volume.
